Joel R. Brandes Consulting Services, Inc. is a Florida Corporation, operated by Joel R. Brandes.

The principal business of Joel R. Brandes Consulting Services, Inc., is providing litigation support and paralegal services for matrimonial and family law attorneys throughout the United States. We teach attorney’s about all aspects of divorce, property distribution, custody, support, child abduction and family law, as well as about methods to develop litigation strategy and prepare for examination of witnesses. We act as a virtual paralegal. We can do anything a paralegal is permitted to do. Our paralegal services include legal research, and assisting counsel in preparing drafts of agreements, pleadings, motion papers, disclosure demands, memoranda of law and briefs. We review and prepare critiques of reports of valuation experts and custody evaluators in order to assist attorneys in preparing their cross examination of these expert witnesses.

Joel R. Brandes was a member of The Law Firm of Joel R. Brandes, P.C. with law offices in Garden City and New York City. He no longer practices law. He practiced exclusively in the area of matrimonial litigation, trials and appeals until April 2002, and had more than 120 New York trial or appellate decisions reported.  Mr. Brandes was counsel in the landmark Court of Appeals cases of Morone v Morone, Tucker v Tucker and McSparron v McSparron. He co-authored with the Late Henry H. Foster and Dr. Doris Jonas Freed, the nine volume treatise Law and the Family New York, Second Edition. He co-authored with Carole L. Weidman, volumes 3, 3A and 3B of Law and the Family New York Second Edition, Revised and their four volume form set, Law and the Family New York Forms, all published by Westgroup, Rochester, New York. He authored volumes 4, 4a and 5 of Law and The Family, New York Second Edition, Revised. He was a  Fellow of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and served as co-chair of the Committee of Continuing Legal Education, New York State Bar Association, Family Law Section and as an officer and a member of its Executive Committee from 1980 to 1992. In that capacity he chaired and participated in more than 150 seminars and prepared course materials for almost all of them. From 1977 to 2002 he wrote a quarterly column, entitled Recent Decisions, Trends and Legislation, in the New York State Bar Association, Family Law Review.

He has written Equitable Distribution Case Law, published by the New York State Bar Association in 1982. He was listed in The Best Lawyers in America, and is listed in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World and in every edition since the 3rd Edition of Who's Who in American Law. He is a past Chairman of the Matrimonial Law Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association and a member of Scribes, The American Society of Writers on Legal Subjects. He has lectured extensively, co-authored several books, was on the Board of Editors of Fairshare and has written many articles in the field of family law. He authored " Law and The Family", a regular monthly column in the New York Law Journal. He earned his J.D. at Brooklyn Law School and his LL .M. at New York University.
